Scripture

“He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.”
Psalm 33:5 (ESV)

Growing up, my grandmother was the perfect example of someone who loved with her whole heart. You could’ve met her for five minutes and heard all about how her grandchildren were Olympic athletes, world-class singers, straight-A students, and basically perfect human beings.

Her love was loud and very loyal. She was always ready to support us, brag about us, and show up for us. In a way, she gave us a small, beautiful glimpse of what unconditional love looks like.

But even that—her unwavering, enthusiastic, no-holds-barred love is only a tiny fragment of the steadfast love the Lord has for each and every one of us.

Let’s break down Psalm 33:5:

“He loves righteousness and justice…”

This speaks of the heart of God Himself. He doesn’t just do what is right, He loves what is right.
He doesn’t merely act fairly, He delights in justice.

Righteousness and justice are not optional behaviors or moral accessories.
They are central traits of His nature. His actions flow from His character. He is the source of what is right and true, and He calls us to reflect that same heart in how we live, love, and treat others.

“…the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.”

Even though injustice may seem rampant, even though darkness often feels louder than light the earth is still full of His love. His mercy saturates every moment, whether we see it or not.

And here, we’re reminded of a profound truth God’s love is not abstract or far off instead it is near and personal.

Charles Spurgeon once wrote:

“You may fear the Lord has passed you by, but it is not so. He who counts the stars and calls them by their names is in no danger of forgetting His own children. He knows your case as clearly as if you were the only creature He ever made or the saint He ever loved. Approach Him and be at peace.”

Think about this for a second:
The same God who names every star in the sky also knows your name.
The same God who orchestrates the universe has not forgotten you.
That’s the kind of steadfast love Psalm 33 is talking about. Immense at scale, yet precise in detail is his love for each person.

We live in a world where love is often conditional, fleeting, or shallow. But God's love is steadfast it doesn’t move when we do. It doesn’t depend on our performance. It doesn’t fade in seasons of doubt.

So what does this mean for you?

  • You are seen, even when you feel invisible.

  • You are remembered, even when you feel forgotten.

  • You are loved, even when you feel undeserving.

  • You are held, even when everything around you feels like it's falling apart.

If the Creator of the universe hasn’t forgotten your name, you can be confident that He hasn’t forgotten your needs, your pain, or your purpose either.

Today’s Encouragement

Let Psalm 33:5 remind you of this:

The God who defines righteousness and justice
Is also the God who wraps the whole earth in His steadfast love.

So when the world feels uncertain, when justice feels distant, or when love feels hard to come by,
remember the One who knows every star by name

and still calls you His own.

Approach Him.
Trust Him.
Be at peace.

His love is everlasting.
